CALL FOR COMMON INTEREST COMMUNITY (CIC) PRESENTATIONS
Important dates:
Proposal submission deadline:  February 20, 2013
Acceptance notification:   April 3, 2013
The Common Interest Community (CIC) Chairs invite you to submit your work in the form of a one-page proposal (2,500 characters) for presentation at the SYTAR 2013 CIC sessions. We welcome professional practice-based submissions related to any tradition or aspect of Yoga therapy germane to the respective community's interest, with an emphasis on topics to broad audiences and common challenges to the community.
CIC presentations are 15-minute talks, with an additional 5 minutes for discussion. They provide
a platform for the presentation of innovative concepts, interaction and dialogue among Yoga therapists;
an opportunity to impart practical information for interfacing Yoga therapy in rehabilitation/mental health professions respectively; and
a chance to network and share your work with peers.

ABOUT THE COMMON INTEREST COMMUNITY (CIC) SESSIONS
The CIC’s model the TED Talks, where experts get 20 minutes or less to share their unique program/technique/practice concept. The TED model is highly respected and powerful for spreading new ideas and attracts top world talent. Click here to see an example with Dean Ornish, MD.
The CIC’s at SYTAR provide a balance to the afternoon tracks of depth of theory/evidence/practice with specific topics along certain tracks with little audience interaction.
In comparison, the CICs are more intimate, provide more exposure to colleagues, encourage interaction with presenters immediately afterward and during the conference, and from a practical community-building perspective, offer the opportunity to connect with someone for the upcoming lunch hour.
(with grateful acknowledgment to Matthew Taylor, PT, RYT, PhD, past president of IAYT and visionary behind the CIC sessions)
The CIC sessions at SYTAR 2013 will be held Thursday, June 13th, from 1:00 to 4:30 pm, with the following topics and co-chairs:
Rehabilitation Professions, Bridging the Past with the Future (Co-chairs: Matthew J. Taylor, PT, PhD, E-RYT 500 and Chrys Crawford Kub, PT)
Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Health (Co-chairs: Paul Copeland, MS, DO and Bo Forbes, Psy.D)
Proposals should include material representing the presenter's own work. All proposals will be reviewed, scored and chosen on merit.
Accepted proposals will be published in a supplement to the International Journal of Yoga Therapy (IJYT) - which will be available to all participants at the meeting. To see the accepted CIC proposals from SYTAR 2011, click here.
Individuals whose proposals are selected are required to register for STYAR 2013 no later than April 12. Proposals from those who do not register will not be included in the respective CIC session or the supplement to IJYT.
